Anne Kadet’s article discusses the high cost of computer printer ink and correctly points out that: 1) printer costs per ink can very from 2 cents per black and white page to 14 cents, depending on the inkjet printer; 2) most manufacturers provide insufficient information on ink costs per page, which leads consumers to buy more costly to operate inkjet printers; and 3) over the life of the printer, consumers pay several times more for the ink than they do for the printer itself.  The article quotes Steve Pociask as saying “consumers don’t have the right information to make the right choice.”  The article can be found at http://www.smartmoney.com/spending/rip-offs/printer-inks-murky-math/?cid=1108#mod=BOL_hpp_footer.

I found a new Continuous Ink Supply System from a company called Adaptive Ink (www.adaptiveink.com). Unlike the imported systems from China, their design utilized sealed large volume external tanks that preserve ink chemistry. I have one running on my K550 it is amazing - I’ve run a few thousand pages and I believe their claim of a penny a page ink cost. The most amazing thing about their design is you can actually purchase true large format HP cartridges and use them on your standard office printer (it’s OEM ink at a much lower cost per volume and no worries about Adaptive Ink being in business forever). This is the best printing product I have ever seen. Highly recommended.
