A group of national organizations sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation in support of efforts to pull $0.93 billion in federal grants from a California high-speed rail project.  Citing waste, the lack of oversight, delays, and noncompliance with the terms of the funding, the coalition letter also called for the return of $2.5 bill in federal funds already allocated to the state for this purpose.
