Today, the American Consumer Institute (ACI) filed comments in response to the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for new potential trade regulation rules related to digital commercial surveillance and consumer data privacy. ACI’s filing notes the importance of protecting consumers’ digital privacy while also critiquing the proposed rule’s overly expansive agenda, broad nature, and premature appearance considering Congress’s recent action on data privacy.
