Statement: ACI Applauds the Appointment of Logan Kolas to the FCC’s Consumer Protection and Accessibility Advisory Committee

Arlington, VA – The American Consumer Institute (ACI) is proud to announce that Logan Kolas, Director of Technology Policy at ACI, has been appointed Co-Chair of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) newly renamed Consumer Protection and Accessibility Advisory Committee (CPAAC).

The CPAAC, formerly known as the Consumer Advisory Committee, advises the FCC on a broad range of consumer protection and accessibility issues, including matters related to telecommunications, broadband services, and access for individuals with disabilities. The committee reflects the FCC’s broadened commitment to ensuring all consumers, including those with disabilities, have access to modern communications technologies.

Mr. Kolas joins Elizabeth Hill, Board Member-at-Large for the National Association of State Agencies for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, as Co-Chair for the 2024–2026 term. Together, they will help lead the committee’s mission of promoting consumer interests and accessible communications policy.

“Logan’s appointment reflects the trust placed in his deep understanding of consumer technology policy. His leadership will help ensure that the FCC’s work remains grounded in the real-world needs of consumers and the importance of broad accessibility.” said Tirzah Duren, President of the American Consumer Institute.

The CPAAC’s first meeting for this term will take place on September 10, 2025, at the FCC’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will be open to the public both in-person and online at www.fcc.gov/live.
