Arlington, VA-The American Consumer Institute submitted public comments supporting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s decision to authorize 20 ZYN nicotine pouch products, citing their potential to reduce smoking-related harm and expand safer alternatives for adult smokers seeking to quit combustible cigarettes.
In its comments, the Institute highlighted that nicotine pouches present dramatically lower risks than cigarettes, contain no tobacco leaf, and have demonstrated significant reductions in exposure to harmful chemicals. ACI urged the FDA to build on this progress by authorizing a broader range of rigorously tested harm-reduction products to better serve diverse smokers and advance public health goals.
