Arlington, VA–The American Consumer Institute (ACI) released its 2026 Policy Priorities, outlining a consumer-first agenda focused on lowering costs, expanding access, and strengthening competition across key sectors of the economy.
With American families facing rising prices, constrained choices, and growing regulatory burdens, ACI’s agenda emphasizes practical reforms rooted in economic reality. The priorities focus on five core areas: financial services and insurance, energy, healthcare, technology, and telecommunications.
Across these sectors, ACI calls for policies that restore market transparency, protect access to essential goods and services, and remove regulatory barriers that raise costs without improving outcomes. Key priorities include expanding access to affordable insurance and credit, streamlining energy permitting to strengthen reliability and affordability, advancing healthcare transparency and competition, supporting harm reduction and rural health access, and ensuring innovation-friendly technology and AI governance.
ACI’s 2026 agenda reflects a consistent principle across all issue areas: competitive markets—not heavy-handed regulation—are the most reliable way to deliver lower costs, better quality, and greater opportunity for American consumers.
