Arlington, VA – Today’s long-awaited release of the White House AI Action Plan is a welcome policy development that puts American innovators and consumers first. With a focus on accelerating, building, and leading the AI revolution, the action plan is an important step in establishing United States leadership in the global technology race.

The White House cannot do it alone. State governments—such as those in Sacramento, Denver, and Albany—are misaligned with the White House vision for American technological dominance. Congress has debated measures to reign in state rules that would undermine that vision, but it has ultimately decided against it. That must change if the United States and its consumers are to reap the fruits of the technological revolution sweeping the planet.
