Arlington, VA-The American Consumer Institute, along with the undersigned organizations, sent a joint letter urging Congress to reject the Children Harmed by AI Technology (CHAT) Act of 2025, warning it would compromise children’s privacy and cybersecurity.
The letter to Senate leaders, argues the bill’s broad scope would regulate widely used technologies—including Siri, chatbots, and gaming features—and force users to undergo invasive age verification, stifling innovation and burdening small developers.
Instead of risky new mandates, we call for better use of existing laws and stronger digital education for families.
