Arlington, VA— The American Consumer Institute submitted public comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in support of the proposed merger between Cox Enterprises, Inc. and Charter Communications, Inc.
ACI’s filing emphasizes that the merger represents a pro-consumer opportunity to enhance competition, improve service quality, and lower costs in the broadband market. By combining operations in a high fixed-cost industry, the two companies are expected to achieve significant economies of scale—leading to efficiency gains, increased investment in infrastructure, and consumer savings.
ACI encourages the FCC and Department of Justice to swiftly approve the transaction, concluding that the merger is in the public interest and will strengthen competition across the communications marketplace.
