Tirzah Duren, President & CEO of the American Consumer Institute, joined Lenny McAllister, KDKA News Radio host and ACI Board Member, on his radio show to discuss the impact of the government reopening on everyday Americans.
With the government back open, Duren discussed what it means for everyday Americans. Back pay for federal employees is a boost for market stability, but bigger cost-of-living pressures remain. Consumer confidence may get a short-term lift heading into the holidays, though uncertainty and another potential continuing resolution could weigh on trust in government.
Looking beyond the reopening, Duren points to tariffs as a major factor affecting consumer prices—changes there could have an even bigger impact on everyday wallets than the government reopening itself.
