Statement: ACI Applauds Ohio House Committee Advancement of Right to Compute Act

Arlington, VA-On Tuesday morning, the Ohio Right to Compute Act passed out of the Ohio House Technology and Innovation Committee, moving Ohio one step closer to a regulatory environment that gives innovators the freedom to develop and compete without unnecessary and costly barriers.

American Consumer Institute Director of Technology Policy, Logan Kolas, states:

“In a world increasingly hostile to technology and innovation, Ohio has opportunity to reject permission slips to innovate and instead embrace a welcoming position toward investment and innovation in the intelligence era. Any law governing computation that is worth creating is also worth the time and effort to do it well. The American Consumer Institute commends the Ohio House Technology and Innovation Committee for advancing such important, pro-consumer policy.”

Ohio consumers and innovators have much to gain from Right to Compute. As the legislation is considered more broadly, policymakers should consider the pro-consumer investment that such a decision will bring. Ohio Right to Compute is an important step for Ohio to become a leader as artificial intelligence technology matures.
