The Taxpayers Protection Alliance hosted a Capitol Hill briefing on Postal reform. The panel included Steve Pociask (The American Consumer Institute), Justin Sykes (Americans for Tax Reform), Kevin Kosar (R Street Institute), and George Landrith (Frontiers of Freedom).

Currently, the Postal Service is falling far short of its Congressional objectives, is not meeting any of its on time mail delivery performance measures, loses about $5 billion a year, has tapped out a $15 billion loan from the U.S. Treasury, and faces more than $100 billion in unfunded liabilities. Current proposed legislation to fix these problems amounts to a bailout of the Postal Service that pushes costs and liabilities to taxpayers and the Medicare budget.  A better solution is needed.
