Arlington, VA – The American Consumer Institute (ACI), a leading nonprofit educational and research organization, is excited to announce the promotion of Nate Scherer to Director of Finance Policy. In this role, Scherer will research and write on a diverse range of consumer finance topics including insurance, banking, and fintech policy. Because of his prior experience, he will continue to provide support, as needed, the ACI’s tech staff on issues involving broadband and wireless public policy.

Scherer joined ACI in March 2022, and most recently served as a Policy Analyst for the organization where he focused on telecommunications and financial services, and where he collaborated with colleagues on other pressing issues. Before that, he worked as a Policy Analyst at the Reason Foundation and several other nonprofits including the Texas Public Policy Foundation and the Leadership Institute.

In a statement on his new role, Scherer shared: “I am thrilled to be stepping into this new role to help better protect consumers’ financial interests and grateful for the opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”
